Pregnancy and Life Lessons

Well, it's been a while since I've been on here, but am looking forward to sharing from my heart. I'm currently 23.5wks pregnant, and learning to slow down quite a bit. I just CAN'T do anything as fast as I'd like to!
When life's circumstances dictate that we slow down, there are many things we learn. Regarding exercise, I'm learning to listen to my body more. With more at risk now, I must slow down or stop when my body tells me to do so. Regarding diet, I'm learning that pregnant women cannot and should not eat whatever they want, nor as much as they want. While most women need to gain about 7lbs of fat during pregnancy, anything more will just be what I will have to lose once the baby is gone. I am learning to really watch the quality and quantity of the food I eat. It's true that the baby consumes quite a few calories, but with my decrease in exercise, I am finding that taking in my normal caloric intake evens everything out.
I am also learning many non-fitness things from slowing down. I'm learning that it's ok to stop and smell the roses, or plant a rose bush. I'm learning that my former energy level is not as important as I thought it was to the happiness of my life or marriage. (My husband is very understanding and helpful). I'm learning that there are many valuable things I can do while sitting down - reading, calling an old friend, keeping up with friends on Facebook, blogging, etc.
In whatever stage of life we're in, it's wonderful to stop, pray, reflect/consider what God would have us learn. If we do this, we can approach each stage of our lives with contentment and thanksgiving.
